ESCALATE made a prominent appearance at the ALICE pavilion during the Transport Research Arena 2026, held from 18 to 21 May 2026 in Budapest, Hungary, which drew to a close today. Building on the collaboration established with ALICE at TRA 2024 in Dublin, ESCALATE and its fellow AEVETO projects continued their presence with an even larger, more elaborate stand.

National and European policymakers, original equipment manufacturers, logistics enterprises, and a diverse array of industry stakeholders discussed the advancements in long-haul zero-emission road freight vehicles, as championed by ESCALATE and the broader AEVETO cluster projects.

Beyond the extensive exchanges hosted within the ALICE pavilion, ESCALATE partner Aristotle University delivered a compelling poster presentation on the environmental merits of photovoltaic-assisted battery-electric trucks (see photo below). Furthermore, the POLIS Network briefly highlighted the latest developments and upcoming pilot initiatives during the joint AEVETO session at the ALICE pavilion, which was followed by a discussion of the prevailing obstacles to the widespread deployment of zero-emission heavy-duty vehicles.
