Later this month, the annual European Hydrogen Week 2026 will take place in Brussels from 26 to 30 October. The ESCALATE consortium is delighted to present the truck of its Finnish partner SISU, which is currently being piloted between Helsinki and the Finnish city of Jyväskylä. The technical experts will be supported by ESCALATE coordinator FEV and by POLIS Network, which is responsible for communication. Meet us at the truck display stand of FEV Europe (F40) or learn more during our project presentation on Tuesday, 27 October 2026, starting at 14:25.

What can you expect?

The EU institutions highlight that hydrogen is an essential element in curbing climate change, owing to its multiple end uses and its scope within the energy system, as already recognised by the EU Hydrogen Strategy and the EU Green Deal. European Hydrogen Week is therefore a key flagship event, providing a stage for EU-funded projects, OEMs and policymakers to exchange views and discuss the challenges and solutions relating to hydrogen-powered vehicles, systems and value chains.

Visit the project stand to learn about our Finnish pilot and the displayed truck or gain a broader overview by attending the project presentation, during which ESCALATE will share the stage with other mobility projects. These include H2Haul, a project within the AEVETO cluster alongside ESCALATE, which deployed more than a dozen zero-emission fuel cell trucks across four sites.

What type of truck will be displayed?

The SISU truck, which is 8.2 m long, will showcase its hydrogen system. This includes a tank with a 58 kg capacity of hydrogen pressurised to 700 bar, which fuels a fuel cell with a potential power output of 320 kW. The tractor unit, with the system installed, weighs 15 t.

The Finnish ESCALATE partner is very excited to host the first public presentation of the vehicle at Hydrogen Week in Brussels, which marks an important milestone for the entire project. Sisu Auto is proud to have contributed its expertise to the research, development and implementation of this initiative, together with other Finnish organisations. The project demonstrates how Finnish cooperation, engineering know-how and innovation can be transformed into tangible solutions for the future of sustainable transport.
